Head Trainer - Kirk Mollenkopf
Kirk Mollenkopf is originally from Muenster, Texas. He is a
1989 graduate of University North Texas. He continued his
education at Northeast Louisiana University, receiving his
Master of Science in 1990. He was the Athletic Trainer at
Dickinson High School for the 1990-1991 school year. He moved
here to Austin to become the first Athletic Trainer at McNeil
High School. He is part of the “Founding Faculty.” Kirk is in
his 19th year as a high school athletic trainer.
Kirk and his wife, Sharon, have two children Kit and Kessie.
He enjoys outdoor activities in his spare time especially,
jogging, hunting, and fishing. Kirk is a CPR instructor with
the American Heart Association.
Assistant Trainer - Melissa
Langston
Melissa
Harrington is originally from Odessa, Texas. She is a 2000
graduate of the University of Texas at El Paso. She will finish
her Master of Education program at Concordia University in
December 2009. After graduating from UTEP, she moved back to
Odessa and was the Athletic Trainer at Odessa High School from
2000 – 2002 until coming to McNeil in January of 2003. Melissa
is in her 9th year as a high school athletic trainer.
She enjoys
spending time with her dogs, reading, and spending time with
family and friends.
Melissa
also coordinates the student trainer education program for the
Central Texas Athletic Trainer’s Society and is on staff of the
Davis Mountains Sport Medicine Clinic in Ft. Davis. She works
with Justin Sports Medicine at the Austin Rodeo and is a CPR
Instructor Trainer for the American Heart Association. |

Richard Strawser, MD, PhD, FAAFP
Dr.
Strawser graduated from Southwest Texas State University. He
received his M.S., Ph.D., and M.D. degrees from the University
of Nebraska, College of Medicine where he was a member of the
Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. He completed his residency
training in Family Practice at Silas B. Hays Army Community
Hospital at Ft. Ord, California. He was then stationed at
Reynolds Army Community Hospital at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma. He did
tours of duty in Panama, Argentina and was Chief of Medicine for
the 47th Field Hospital in the Middle East in support of
Operation Desert Shield/Storm. He has been in practice in the
Round Rock area since 1992 and is one of the founding members of
Brushy Creek Family Physicians. He is board certified by the
American Board of Family Medicine and is a Fellow in the
American Academy of Family Physicians. He enjoys all aspects of
Family Medicine. He served the Texas Academy of Family
Physicians as a member of the Bylaws Committee and Commission on
Academic Affairs in 2006-2007. He is married to Dr. Karen Lea
Southmayd and has five children and two grandchildren.

John P. Duggan, Jr., M.D.
Orthopedic Surgeon
Dr. Duggan
graduated Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa from the University of
Illinois at Champaign-Urbana with a B.S. in Cell and Structural
Biology and received his M.D. from Columbia University College
of Physicians and Surgeons in New York, New York. Dr. Duggan
completed his residency in orthopaedic surgery at George
Washington University in Washington, D.C.
Dr. Duggan joined Round Rock
Orthopaedic Group in August 2008 and is in his second year as
team physician for the McNeil Mavericks. Dr. Duggan also serves
as the assistant team physician for the Round Rock Express.
During his sports medicine fellowship at The Methodist Hospital
in Houston, he trained with Drs. David Lintner and Walter Lowe
in the latest arthroscopic shoulder and knee surgical techniques
with an emphasis on the throwing athlete and ACL reconstruction.
His duties as a fellow included team coverage of the Houston
Astros and Texans.
Dr. Duggan
is married and enjoys sports and being a pet parent in his spare
time.

Scott A. Smith, M.D.
Orthopedic Surgeon
Dr. Smith received a BS in Biology from Texas A&M University and
his MD from Texas Tech University. He continued his training at
Michigan State University with his Orthopedic Surgery residency.
Dr. Smith is board certified by the American Board of Orthopedic
Surgery and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic
Surgeons. Dr. Smith is also Sub-Specialty Certified in Sports
Medicine. He practices general orthopedics with special
interests in sports medicine, comprehensive arthritis
management, the care of fractures, and osteoporosis. Dr. Smith
serves on the staff of all area hospitals. He is also active in
the Arthritis Foundation and volunteers as team physician for
McNeil High School in the Round Rock School District and the
Austin Toros Professional Basketball team. Dr. Smith has been
voted a Super Doctor by Texas Monthly magazine.
Dr. Smith is happily married and has four children. In his free
time he is an avid sports fan and participates in basketball,
golf, tennis, and running. He is actively involved with his
church and enjoys spending time with his family.

Paul Lounsberry, D.D.S
Dentist
Dr. Lounsberry
has been practicing general dentistry in Austin since he
graduated from dental school at the University of Texas Health
Science Center at San Antonio in 1984. One of Dr. Lounsberry’s
long-term goals was to have a neighborhood family practice near
home. He fulfilled that goal in June of 1995 when he opened
Balcones Family Dental, and as the name implies, his practice
caters to the entire family! Dr. Lounsberry’s greatest loves in
life are his wife Sandy and their three beautiful children. They
are also his greatest supporters. As a family, they are
involved in the community, schools, sports, and church. Dr.
Lounsberry also helps raise money and provides treatment for the
Texas Baptist Children’s Home in Round Rock. His other
interests include boating, golfing, hunting, and skiing.
Dr. Lounsberry sets a high standard of excellence for himself.
As part of this, he is dedicated to continuing education and
training to be able to bring you the latest and most effective
dental care. Each year he takes more than 50 hours of
continuing education courses, and he participates in Lonestar
Dental Seminars – a Seattle Study Club. Dr. Lounsberry is also
member of the American Dental Association, Academy of General
Dentistry, American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, Texas Dental
Association, Texas Academy of General Dentistry, and the Capital
Area Dental Society.
