2009 College Recruiting Events

Football University (FBU) Camps

Austin FBU March 6-8th McNeil HS

ABOUT FBU: Football University is an invitation-only experience for the serious football player, focusing on teaching technique and skill in a small-group setting with other elite athletes. Modeled after NFL mini-camps, each camp includes 14 hours of training and development—both on the field and off the field—including film study, classroom testing, and access to hi-tech equipment, all under the professional tutelage of former NFL players and coaches.

FBU TECHNOLOGY: Football University takes training camp beyond on-field instruction, giving players access to tools usually reserved for professionals. Each athlete works with cutting-edge training equipment, including high definition slow-motion video at 500 frames per second. Each quarterback works with the latest technology.

FBU FACULTY: The faculty includes Larry Kennan, who brings 30 years of coaching experience, including tutoring NY Giant Eli Manning, N.O Saint Drew Brees, and San Francisco 49er Alex Smith. Other instructors include two-time Super Bowl winning defensive back Perry Williams; Pro Bowl and Super Bowl-winning receiver Andre Rison; former Green Bay Packer and punting/kicking guru Bill Renner; and many others.

FBU ALUMNI: In the past two years, FBU has trained the nation’s top high school quarterbacks, Terrelle Pryor and Matt Barkley. FBU has also trained the sons of Joe Montana, Jim McMahon, rapper Snoop Dogg, actor Will Smith, Hall of Famer Frank Gifford and North Carolina Head Coach Butch Davis.

FBU LOCATIONS: 2009 will bring FBU to an expanded 32 locations across the nation. For more information, and to nominate yourself or your players visit www.footballuniversity.org. For more information contact:

Anthony Williams, FBU Regional Director at 512-341-2487 or at awilliams@footballuniveristy.org.

Nike Football Combines

The premier high school athletic testing event, the NIKE Combines are a great opportunity for top high school players who aspire to play on the next level to see where they stand with their peers and get unbiased testing numbers by respected professionals in the industry.  Produced by Student Sports, which started the first high school football combine and camp events almost 20 years ago, these FREE combines will give any athlete an opportunity to showcase their skills for college coaches as well as for possible selection for the NIKE Football Training Camps held later in the spring.

The NIKE Combines are open to rising seniors (graduating in 2010) and top underclassmen looking to showcase their skills to the football world. Players like Devin Hester, Haloti Ngata, Larry Fitzgerald and hundreds more have blown up into national recruits after standout showings at NIKE testing events and thousands more, like FSU signee Vince Williams in the Class of 2008, who received his first offer just two days after posting the top SPARQ Rating at last year's NIKE Combine in Orlando, have earned scholarships - you could be next this spring!  Here are the upcoming dates for the 2009 Combines being hosted in Texas:
04.4.09 Dallas,TX

Nike SPARQ Football Combine

05.9.09 Houston,TX Nike SPARQ Football Combine

Cick here to register for these and other combine events.

Nike Training Camps

Athletes who are invited to the NIKE Football Training Camp will register, where they will pick up their free NIKE Pro workout shirt, and get their photo taken. After height and weight are measured, the NIKE Football Training Camp is broken down into three parts:

1. SPARQ TRAINING: After a proper, supervised "dynamic warmup," SPARQ trainers work participants through specific drills designed to improve athletic ability, speed and explosiveness. Here, athletes have the opportunity to tap into the secrets of proper workouts that have helped players make it to the NFL, including cone and ladder drills. This period educates participants on how to improve football-specific speed, agility and quickness movements, and also how to train specifically for the needs and requirements of their individual positions.

2. POSITION SPECIFIC DRILLS: Participants are separated into position groups (QBs, RBs, WR/TEs, OLs & DLs, LBs & DBs) to work individually on football skills and techniques with top-notch position coaches with college and NFL experience.

3. ONE-ON-ONES: The NIKE Camp concludes with one-on-one passing and non-contact line drills, which many say are the highlight of the camp.

The NIKE Camps are free and registration information is sent out to top players/recruits who are in the Class of 2009. Players can be recommended by their coach as a high level recruit to pre register for the camp. If a recommendation is not possible then a player may send in a 5 min. video highlight tape so he can be evaluated. A third way to get registered is to test well at a NIKE Combine.

Coaches can send in recommendations as soon as the season is complete... please include 2007 statistics, height, weight, position, honors/accolades, etc. with videotape if possible. Mail tapes and recommendations to:

Student Sports
23954 Madison St.
Torrance CA 90505

Players whose recommendations are accepted will be mailed back NIKE Camp registration information.
